Kylinda’s Call to Arms: First time Tanking

The first instance I tanked was Ragefire Chasm, I went in without heirlooms and it was a blast.  I quickly grabbed a new mace off of a trash drop before we even got into the first bosses hallway / room area.  There was a Dwarf Shaman that was fully decked out in heirlooms and the bastard kept pulling mobs off of me or just went on ahead and pulled more for me.  Once we got to the Fel guard boss Taragman the Hungerer we downed him quickly and pop goes the achievement, the Shaman left.  I requed to see if we could get another dps to come in and finish the rest of the instance but I guess since we finished it we were plunked into another instance, this time it was Deadmines.  Now I’ve done this on Anslym at 85 and I was excited to see what was different from the heroic version to the normal version.

As I quickly learned, the first mage boss doesn’t do the “Ready for Raiding” flame spin that he does on heroic which I was kind of disappointed about but I guess if that was the case then level 17+ would be able to get the achievement for the volcano drake.  We quickly progressed through the bosses and I went to see if Miner Johnson was still in the little nook off the beaten path and I pulled many, too many in fact and I died.  I was rezzed and we kept going.  We finally downed “the cookie” and I was around level 17 after these two randoms and truth be told.  It was AMAZING!  I previously decided that I wouldn’t do the whole heirloom gear up but the thing I learned during these two runs was that almost everyone who is leveling an alt is now decked out in heirlooms which is what made me decide to get heirlooms on Kylinda.  Next time I talk about my adventures through the new Wailing Caverns.

Kylinda’s Call to Arms!

A few weeks ago, if you follow me on Twitter, you could have seen my little Q n’ A with  Ophelie about the in’s and outs of Paladin-ing.  With the rest of my Cataclysm alts now reaching Outland, signifying that I’ve seen all the damage done, I now can level up with just the Random Dungeon tool.

I was thinking about going retribution as soon as I hit level 10, so I can do the light twister hammer time, but it turns out that you need to spec for that.  So protection paladin it is.  I plan to spec Holy as soon as I hit level 30, dual spec ftw! Stalkuren has graciously agreed to level his mage with me and we both decided to level up WITHOUT heirlooms.  I decided it just so it takes a little longer, giving me the ability to learn to tank a little better.  This is not only my first tanking character but it’s also my first melee character, should be fun.

She is currently chilling at Blood Watch on Bloodmyst Isle waiting for the que to pop mean its her very first Call to Arms.
