Cataclysm

Well it’s offical my guild <Bucklers of Swash> is in the process of transferring servers!  We’re moving from Mug’thol – PvP to Bleeding Hollow – PvP.  I for one am pleased with this change.  My old server was a 11:4 horde to alliance ratio.  The majority of the alliance side population was in my guild.  That being said, we had around +200 level 85′s in the guild with only +100 accounts in guild.   The server was made up of people are their alts.   The only sad part about the transfer is that my little family on Mug’thol is breaking up.

(From left to right) Anslym, Chmelyk, Grygor, Trynda, Maegyn, Gwynvere, Kylinda, and Jarytt

The way the higher-ups in the guild have decided this transfer go through is:

  • Have people roll new characters to familarize themselves with the new server.  Survey the population, auction house, etc.  Just as a trial to see if it’s something they would like to spend money on.
  • Move over Alternate characters for now, just to get the guild set-up.  Also move over Guildbank items and gold.
  • Two weeks into September is when main characters will be transferred over.

We currently have a temporary guild set up on Bleeding Hollow called <Bucklers>, our real guild, <Bucklers of Swash> will remain on Mug’thol till Guild transfers are implemented.  The guild will then be transferred over and everyone will change guild again back into the original.

As of writing this post: Grygor, Maegyn, Gwynvere, Kylinda, and Jarytt have been deleted.  Chmelyk has been transferred over along with a bunch of heirlooms.  Anslym will be staying behind for a bit long and Trynda will remain on Mug’thol.

On a happier note: Grygor is level 32, Meigyn (name taken D: ) is level 5, Gwynvere is level 5, Aurasyn (Dwarf warlock) is level 7, Kylindah is looking great at level 1 (name also taken D:), and Jarytt is level 8.

Here are some compairson shots:

Was that a tumbleweed that just rolled by?

Excuse me. Pardon me. MOVE THE DAMN MAMMOTH!

Not a lot of gold gets made here...

Could get rich just by pickin' up the gold people drop!

I prepared for the transfer by obviously stripping my old alts of heirlooms and sending them to Chmelyk.  I then proceed to strip them of everything else.  I took everything from them and left them standing in thier underwear with the only thing in their backpack was a hearthstone. Yup I even sold thier soulbound bags.  I then did the math (this took some time) and sent the exact amount of Gold to Anslym needed to leave them with 0g, 0s, 0c.  Once that was done I logged onto my bank character and mailed over all the enchanting mats I had.  This ranged from Strange dust to Maelstrom crystals.  It was offical.  Chmelyk’s bags were full.

I went out and I bought a Vanilla Mastercard.  A prepaid credit card because I don’t have one :( .  I bought the 25 dollar one and it worked out just fine!  I logged into battle net and clicked Chmelyk for a transfer.  “Your character has been logged into recently, wait several minutes and try again”.  I set my phone to go off in 20 minutes and off I went to watch Grey’s Anatomy.  Once the alarm went off.  Clicked on Chmelyk and… “You have mail on your character”.  So I logged in and it was a letter from Blizzard from my answered ticket from 3 weeks ago and Brew of the month.  I delete it and click on the transfer.  “Your character has been logged into recently, please wait several minutes and try again”.  ARGH!

But in the end I finally got it to go through and I haven’t regretted it since. I’m doing more than just Molten Front dailies and trolls!  And even the guild is thriving!  There was even talk of us going horde.  Which was promptly shot-down.  But it does raise the question though….

Would my characters still feel like my characters even if they were horde? Would they look the same? Move the same? Be the same? Well you know other then the whole “I’m Horde now!”.

I may just have to faction change and find out……….

Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Sorry, sorry, sorry! Life got in the way…. again >.< I had term papers (Divine Comedy Essay FTW?) due and I had exams.  I’d rather not talk about those.  Good news is that I have graduation on Wednesday, I graduate with honors! So suck that Chem exam! Then in september I go off to university as a biology major.  Back to your regular WoW posting blog now.

The Golden Goal:

Need I say more?  I finally got enough gold for it a few weeks ago.  I sent the gold over to a guildmate so he could buy all the mats and build it.  It left me drained.  Which kind of sucked because I forgot about all the mats that needed to be made.  I bought 40 stacks of Cobalt bars off the AH and mailed them to him.  Luckily the furs were in my guildbank which I took and as for the 12 titansteel bars….. those were also in the guildbank but I needed an officer to get them because they we’re in the officer tab.  It was a reasonable trade-off, 720g for those 12 bars.  Except I was copperless.  I then remember I had acquired some gold on Trynda so I quickly logged and pour that gold into the guild bank and finally got all the mats needed.  I felt kinda bad taking the gold from Trynda because I was saving that gold for epic flying on my druid.  I was in for a nice surprise.  because our guild is level 25 I guess my guildmate got a deal and he gave me 1250g back which covered my IOU to Trynda and then some!  All in all a worthy investment I think.

Trynda:

Trynda got to 85! Which means 3 down and a lot more to go.  Grygor, my druid, is sitting at Valance Keep at level 68, Maegyn, the mage, is flying around Terrokar Forest at level 66 almost level  67.  Which leaves Gwyn, the hunter, still at 58.

The Exalted:

The title means I’ve reached 40 exalted reputations.  The Guild tag means I’ve exalted with.  The mount means I’ve hit exalted with Baradin’s Wardens.  It was actually a run of Blackrock Caverns that got my exalted with my last reputation, Gilneas.  So there, my pre-cataclysm goal was finally reached 6 months after the release :P

Healing:

In an effort for shorter que times I’ve tried my hand at healing a few randoms.  It’s been pretty fun I have to say.  I only do strict pre-4.1 Heroics, I never que for the zandalar heroics, ever.  I think healing would be some easier if I downloaded some kind of addon for it and I wasn’t suffering for my DC issues.

Warcraft Books:

I had a blast writing my “The Shattering” book review (located here) so I decided to do it for the rest of the Warcraft books.  So far I’ve only re-read “Rise of the Horde”  I actually didn’t decide on the book reviews till after I finished it.  I wanted to re-read it so I have a better idea how to make my fanfic’s flow a little better now the Kylinda has been introduced.  You should keep a look out for future book reviews and future fanfics.

Thanks for waiting and thanks for reading.

Or well trying too at least.  I should get back into this whole blogging thing, shouldn’t I?  And I think now that my WoW dry spell is over it’ll happen.  I didn’t stop playing the game, I didn’t even stop enjoying the game it’s just when I played I felt like I was in a coma, just going through the motions.  I’m sorry to say that I didn’t even go through the regular motions of randoms and dailies.  I would just log on and chat with a few people, maybe do the V-day bosses but something changed.

1.            Maybe it’s that I’m finally on that updated computer?  You know the one: where my lag was soooooo god awful that I had to cast dispersion 3 seconds before Algalon cast his explosion just to make sure I was protected in time?  Well I talked to my guild about it and they recommended a good graphic card update.  Well by the time I got around to buying it, it was about a month or so later.  My mom took the computer in to her coworker who sent it to his friend, he later called me and this is what the conversation sounded like

Him: “Blah blah blah, core processor, blah blah, USB connectivity, blah, port driver.”

Me:”Uhhh.”

Him: “I see you play WoW”

Me: “Yeah?”

Him: “Ok so you should be able to login in Dalaran and start moving right away . . .”

Me: “Oh yeah?”

Him: “Yeah it’s just every time I do this without using my computer’s power supply your computer shuts down, your power supply can’t handle it.  I assume you want to raid, so I’ll put the old graphic card in and you can send your computer + graphic card + power supply later.”

Me: “$!*#”

So by the time I got the power supply it was late august and the day that my mom took all of that to work with her is when the house caught on fire and I lost my monitor, keyboard, mouse, and everything else.  So I played off my laptop till we moved in back home and got new accessories.  Let me tell you.  It’s like playing a brand new game!  Here’s a before and after:

Before:

After:

This may be a little biased because of the whole Cataclysm update but I’m sure you understand what I mean about a WHOLE NEW FREAKIN’ GAME!

2.             Maybe its the fact that my guild and I finally killed our first raid boss, Magmaw?  I know we’re late to the game but our Cataclysm transition seems to have been a little more rockier than anticipated.  Some of our guild members couldn’t play Cataclysm right from the get go, you know family issues or work related stuff.  So some of our more impatient members felt they could do better and the either changed guild, or factions, or servers.  Which obviously didn’t help our raid groups.  So we went from 3-4 groups running 2-3 times a week for 3-4 hours a night to 1.5 groups (which needed to be merged so we could even get Magmaw down).

I see all the exciting things being posted on MMO-Champ and I don’t see epic mounts, I see things that I won’t be able to part-take in.  I know it’s not my guilds fault, and I shouldn’t be complaining because if it did bother me that much than I could just leave and find someone else to run with, but I refuse to become part of the problem because every member the guild loses is another 1-2 weeks of recruiting and gearing to fill that slot. The only thing we’re really missing is another Tank.  I have toyed with the idea of being a tank for my guild but first of all I’ve never played a melee character past level 15, which kind of alludes to the fact that I’ve never tanked before.  Another very good reason for my hesitancy to tank is because I like my shaman too much to put him away for a rainy day.

Exciting this I’ll probably miss:

3.            Or maybe it’s because I’ve found something to put a spring back into my step.  I’ve recently started Arena-ing with Stalkuren (my shadow priest and his rogue) and we seem to be doing alright for ourselves, not to say that I haven’t eaten the dirt quite a few times.  But I do look forward to every Tuesday when our points reset!  We also part take in 3v3′s with a mutual friend who does sick DPS on his hunter but for our Arena team he sports his restoration druid.  I should be getting my new weapon fairly soon.  If not this week than next week.

4.          It’s probable that because of the news of patch 4.1 coming out which means T12 is just around the corner as spurred me into action because as of yet I have yet to acquire a single piece of tier.

5.            Last possible reason is because life seems to be finally slowing down.  I’ve been having less homework (I’m jynxing it I know.) My classes while they aren’t easy they have less work than my previous ones (Calc and Vectors, Chem, English Lit, and Writer’s Craft).  Best of all my English Lit class is online which means soon enough I’ll be able to leave school at 12 instead of 2.

Well what ever the reason for my spur in WoW, I’m glad and I’m grateful for it.  I should be posting for regularly now which means Gearing up elemental Pt2 should be up shortly.
