Karma-clysm

Last night when I was getting valor capped on Anslym I joined into a Zul’aman that was halfway through the trash between the bear boss and the dragonhawk boss.  We ran into a little issue when the scout patted behind us and ran screaming like the little bitch he was to the drum to summon reinforcements.  We killed him before he summoned the all four so we only had to kill two extra mobs.  We did it, no one died, no big deal.  We proceeded to the dragonhawk boss and downed him no issue whatsoever.  As we were mounting up to do the sprint from dragonhawk platform to, up the stairs, and down to the lynx add.  When a notification popped up on my screen.  “A vote-kick has been initiated for Gnome warlock, reason being: bad bad bad bad.”  The dragonhawk boss was flawless, it wasn’t breaking any records for time but we downed him in good time and we took notice of all the mechanics.  I took a look at the warlocks gear, just from an aesthetic standpoint –not actually going up and inspecting them.  She had some gear from the Zulroics and her other gear needed work, but we were all there at some point in our WoW careers.  I stared at the “accept and decline” options till we got to the lake.  I opted to hit decline, the vote kick failed and the warlock stayed with us till we downed the finally boss and she got her 140 valor points along with the rest of us.

You might be thinking, “aw how nice, you did a decent thing.”  But the truth is it’s not just with not kicking people.  Some people believe in the whole “If it’s red, it’s dead,” policy.  I know how much of a nuisance it is to be in the “questing zone” and have someone drop out the blue and gank you and then proceed to camp you.  It’s especially annoying when you’re trying to finish up some dailies before class or work and you can’t because you’re being camped.  When I go in for the kill I always put myself in their perspective and think how I might be ruining their day.  On the other hand, if they attack me first…. it’s on.

Back to the warlock, maybe it’s because I was once the person who needed to be carried, or maybe it’s something else entirely but when the occasion arises, I’m more than happy to carry someone provided they’re actually trying.  Same goes for raiding and in-guild issues.  I’m more than happy to pass on loot for someone who really needs it, I hope one day they can pay it forward for me.  Which links back to karma-clysm.  I didn’t kick the warlock for not being up to par because I was going to be running a zulroic on Chmelyk and I didn’t want to be kicked for being subpar and I didn’t.  So long story short, the next time you’re presented with the vote kick option think about how you might be affecting someone’s day.

Neglect, Lies, and, New people

I can tell you that I’ve been busy all summer and that’s why I havent posted anything.  I can tell you that the reason for not posting was because I’ve been busy packing for moving to university.  I could tell you that I’ve been so busy playing alts that I just forgot about posting here.  I could tell you that I’ve been so busy in the firelands that that’s all I’ve been focused on.  But I’d be lying.

I haven’t done anything this summer other than watch all 7 season of grey’s anatomy, all 4 season of Burn notice, and more.  That should give you a good idea of what I’ve been up to this summer.  I haven’t packed a single thing for university either.  I’ve called it quits on all my alt’s because my guild is server transferring sometime in the forseeable future and I can’t afford to bring over all my characters so what’s the point of leveling them?  I’ve only downed Shannox once in firelands because I don’t have a raid group.  All in all I guess the reason for me not posting is because there’s nothing to post about.  I guess I rather leave the blog blank instead of it looking like this:

Because that’s all I’ve been doing, my gaming experience felt… off.  There a number of reasons for this. 

First off: Lack of raiding.  Raiding is what progresses the story and that’s my number one love of this game.  The Story.  I was pulled in a few times as a fill-in but it only scratches the itch, not satisfies the need.  Look at me the virgin making sex references. LOL.

Second off: I don’t like change. WoW was my safe-haven from change.  I’m moving out and going to university almost 200km away (125 miles?).   That’s fine, nothing’s different in WoW right?  My core raiding group has mainly left the game.  dps: got jobs and can’t play, transferred off the server to join a raiding guild, Went to go play with family/friends on another server.  Tanks: we never really had permanent ones.  Heals: had a baby and can’t really play anymore (which is understandable).  It feels like Stalkuren and I are the only ones left from pre-cataclysm.  Our guild has an influx of new members, people I don’t even know!  But instead of me making friends with them I just shun them and keep in my little clique.

Flashback: I login on a morning a few days ago.  An officer that I can call a friend is only, we start talking about guild stuff and then a new member logs on.  He asks what we are talking about and I point him to the guild website to find out (I hate that our guildleader who barely plays the game anymore due to the new baby, took time away from his family and his money to build us this website that no one uses) after some back and forth between the three of us he finally learns of our impending server transfer.  He starts complaining how he convinced 3 of his irl friends to transfer to our guild from other servers.  I say this, word for word, “Shitty, if you check the guild website you would have known three weeks ago.” 

I know it was a little mean, but he was a new person he hasn’t done anything to earn my friendship why should I be nice?  I know I’m painting a horrible picture of the kind of person I am, but please note I was doing the molten front dailies… refer a few lines up.  I wasn’t in the best mood to take someone complaining about something like him.  He then proceeds to call me a bunch of names I would rather not like to mention here and he then proceeds to /gquit.  He later came back and I was told to treat new members with compassion and patience.  The reprimanding officer and I had a three-hour conversation on the state of the guild and how we both feel overwhelmed with the guild ratio of 80% of our roster having just joined in the past 3 months.

End Flashback

I did just as the officer suggested and instead of looking at what was, I’m looking to what is now, and what could be later.  Which fixed the funk that I’m in.  Last night I decided to accept a raid offer from a group made up of all new people.  We downed Nefarian which was my first time downing an end boss in Cataclysm. 

So from here on out I’m not looking to what was (non-posting) but I’m looking to what is (Finished with the Molten front,  one kill away from Anslym the Flamebreaker, and I’m riding around on my Amani Battle Bear) and to what will be (Lore posts, guides, and more fanfiction).

The One Where Everything is Smushed Together

Sorry, sorry, sorry! Life got in the way…. again >.< I had term papers (Divine Comedy Essay FTW?) due and I had exams.  I’d rather not talk about those.  Good news is that I have graduation on Wednesday, I graduate with honors! So suck that Chem exam! Then in september I go off to university as a biology major.  Back to your regular WoW posting blog now.

The Golden Goal:

Need I say more?  I finally got enough gold for it a few weeks ago.  I sent the gold over to a guildmate so he could buy all the mats and build it.  It left me drained.  Which kind of sucked because I forgot about all the mats that needed to be made.  I bought 40 stacks of Cobalt bars off the AH and mailed them to him.  Luckily the furs were in my guildbank which I took and as for the 12 titansteel bars….. those were also in the guildbank but I needed an officer to get them because they we’re in the officer tab.  It was a reasonable trade-off, 720g for those 12 bars.  Except I was copperless.  I then remember I had acquired some gold on Trynda so I quickly logged and pour that gold into the guild bank and finally got all the mats needed.  I felt kinda bad taking the gold from Trynda because I was saving that gold for epic flying on my druid.  I was in for a nice surprise.  because our guild is level 25 I guess my guildmate got a deal and he gave me 1250g back which covered my IOU to Trynda and then some!  All in all a worthy investment I think.

Trynda:

Trynda got to 85! Which means 3 down and a lot more to go.  Grygor, my druid, is sitting at Valance Keep at level 68, Maegyn, the mage, is flying around Terrokar Forest at level 66 almost level  67.  Which leaves Gwyn, the hunter, still at 58.

The Exalted:

The title means I’ve reached 40 exalted reputations.  The Guild tag means I’ve exalted with.  The mount means I’ve hit exalted with Baradin’s Wardens.  It was actually a run of Blackrock Caverns that got my exalted with my last reputation, Gilneas.  So there, my pre-cataclysm goal was finally reached 6 months after the release

Healing:

In an effort for shorter que times I’ve tried my hand at healing a few randoms.  It’s been pretty fun I have to say.  I only do strict pre-4.1 Heroics, I never que for the zandalar heroics, ever.  I think healing would be some easier if I downloaded some kind of addon for it and I wasn’t suffering for my DC issues. 

Warcraft Books:

I had a blast writing my “The Shattering” book review (located here) so I decided to do it for the rest of the Warcraft books.  So far I’ve only re-read “Rise of the Horde”  I actually didn’t decide on the book reviews till after I finished it.  I wanted to re-read it so I have a better idea how to make my fanfic’s flow a little better now the Kylinda has been introduced.  You should keep a look out for future book reviews and future fanfics.

I was Invincible

Hi, my name is… maybe it would be better if you didn’t know my name.  I write this letter to you in hopes to inform you of a very important fact.  You are not invincible.  I had once thought that… how wrong I was.  I first started my adventure by travelling into the depth of the sunken city of Vashj’ir.  I helped out my factions troops.  I saved the elemental lord of water from the Kraken, and I managed to push back the Naga invasion.   I was invincible. I then travelled to Nordrassil on the peak of Mount Hyjal.  It was I who helped reawaken the ancients, it was I who put out the raging inferno, and it was I who pushed back the elemental lord of flame back into his godforsaken land. I was invincible.  I travelled into the heart of the Maelstrom and flew through the rift into Deepholm.  It was I who defeated a drake, saved the Earthen, and gain the elemental lady’s trust.  I put the World Pillar back together, I saved Deepholm from crashing into Azeroth.  I was invincible.  I travelled to Uldum and beat back the elemental lord’s minions; I delved into the Halls of Origination and made sure no one would use that device!  I was invincible.  I travelled to the Highlands to bring our people together; I helped the red drakes combat the twilight cultists.  I helped the Dragonqueen face the Earthwarder.  I was the one who infiltrated the Twilights Cult.  I was invincible.  I beat the elemental lord of air.  I was invincible.  I ended Cho’gall. I was invincible.  It was I who had slain Deathwing’s children.  I was invincible.  I was the defender of the shattered world.  I was a target.

The funny thing about the war on the Twilight’s cult is they look like you and me.  In past years the guards would be alarmed if a demon or undead just walked the streets.  But not an Orc, or a Human.  Which is why no suspicion was raised when one strolled up to my house and walked inside.  I came home not long after and found my wife in a pool of her own blood and a note saying they had my child.  I was Invisible.  They didn’t demand much from me for her safe return.  Now I must apologize for lying to you, I wasn’t invincible, I didn’t even know the meaning of the phrase.  But now I know Life is weak, mortal, fleeting, and fragile.  But now as the hour of Twilight falls, as I have embraced the old god’s power, I know I am invincible.
